Criteria

Only those products which are comprised of a minimum of 85% of renewable raw materials (a detailed definition can be found in the issuance guidelines) or mineral based materials which are almost unlimited in their availability will be considered for certification. These have a proven positive influence upon the interior room climate. At the same time the synthetic component is strictly regulated and reduced to the minimum level that is technically possible. On the one hand harmful emissions can be avoided and on the other, the use of fossil fuels and limited natural resources can be minimised. The origins of the raw materials are carefully checked.

Life Cycle Analyses, visits to the production facilities and demanding guidelines and standards, for example for energy consumption, guarantee that the products are produced in an environmentally responsible manner.

Strict limits on harmful substances, which far exceed the statutory requirements, ensure that no health risks are posed by these building products. Specially selected laboratories are responsible for ensuring compliance with these limits.

The suitability of application and durability/life-span of the products are also certification requirements. The basic criteria are valid for all products that are awarded the natureplus- Seal of Quality. Additionally, the product group and product-specific requirements of the relevant product groups and product guidelines must be met. Suppliers of certified products must comply with the current legal requirements of their particular country in respect of the production, sales and usage of the products.
