RE.THINK BUILDING: Potential for a Different Kind of Building
At the RE.THINK BUILDING conference organised by natureplus and Architects for Future on 9 September in Berlin, renowned speakers will show where building and renovation must develop in order to remain sustainable. Rethinking building means: recyclable, renewable, simple.
Building must and will change, it must be rethought from the ground up. The negative effects of our current practices on the environment and the climate are too great. Against the backdrop of this development, the RE.THINK BUILDING conference of the European environmental association natureplus will discuss possibilities, opportunities and examples of sustainable planning and building on 9 September 2022 from 9 am to 10 pm in Berlin. Architects for Future is supporting the professional exchange, at which numerous experts such as the renowned architect Prof. Dr. Anupama Kundoo or Theresa Keilhacker, President of the Berlin Chamber of Architects, will present approaches to solutions. What needs to be done in the current crisis situation in Germany will be explained by Thomas Graber, board member of the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts. With Dr. Stephen Richardson from the World Green Building Council, global developments will also be included in the debate.
The dialogue, partly in English, with researchers, planners and political leaders promises exciting insights. Representatives of Architects For Future, the German Sustainable Building Council, Bauhaus Erde, numerous practitioners and members of the German Bundestag will discuss how important recyclable, climate-protecting and healthy building materials are for the overdue building turnaround, and which serial and low-tech building methods can contribute to giving new dynamism to the urgently needed energy-efficient renovation of existing buildings.
The keynotes and lectures in the morning will take place in person. The two forums in the afternoon with food for thought and best practices for refurbishing existing buildings, conversion, adding storeys and low-tech potential can also be followed online. At the same time, a materials fair will be held in the Quadriga Forum. In the evening, natureplus will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of its eco-label with, among other things, a Sustainability Slam.
