Online event series "natureplus Europe – Healthy Buildings 2020" from 19th to 29th of October

August 19, 2020

The worldwide COVID pandemic has raised public awareness of health issues. Hygiene and protective measures against infection are debated daily. More time than ever people have stayed in buildings and closed rooms. Hardly discussed, however, is the role of our buildings for human health, which are often anything but healthy. Many materials in our homes, schools and offices contain and emit substances that are harmful to our health and weaken our immune system. Regulations to protect the population are only issued in individual European countries, are handled with varying degrees of strictness and are hardly ever controlled. For this reason, health-conscious building owners are dependent upon private labels for building materials which, like natureplus, have been practising strict regulations for almost 20 years.

Understanding and discussing healthy buildings

Together natureplus headquarters and the European natureplus representatives are planning the event series “natureplus Europe – Healthy Buildings 2020” from 19th to 29th of October. In the period of ten days we organise Europe-wide events on sustainable and healthy construction and building materials. The events will be hold in English and online. The series are offered by natureplus and the partner organisations in Great Britain, The Netherlands, Austria, and other countries. Other organisations can also participate with their own contributions.

Kick-off Webseminar on Indoor Air Quality

The start will be Monday 19th October with a kick-off webseminar on indoor air quality. Together with renowned scientists from the German ECO-Institute we discuss the question of understanding, ensuring, and implementing healthy living. The web seminar provides an overview of factors that influence indoor air. The focus is on the importance of building materials, product requirements e.g. regarding VOCs, formaldehyde, pollutants etc. and reliable product testing.

Post-Covid 19: The Importance of Healthy Buildings

Thursday 22nd October our UK partner organisation ASBP is organising a lecture "Post Covid-19: The Importance of Healthy Buildings". During the Covid-19 pandemic, occupants have spent more time than ever inside their homes. It’s therefore paramount that our indoor environments are fully supportive of our health and wellbeing. But what does this mean in practice? Here you find more information.
