Bioeconomy in Construction

From rising material prices and supply bottlenecks to new customer demands and climate protection, the construction industry faces a multitude of challenges — and bioeconomy offers powerful solutions! With bio-based materials, regional value chains, and innovative construction methods, we are driving change in the construction sector.

Through the targeted promotion of bioeconomic building materials, as well as interdisciplinary and integrated knowledge transfer and processes, the project "Bioeconomic Building Materials for the Construction Transition" contributes to the building transformation, paving the way for a bio-based, circular, and regional construction (materials) industry, and thereby strengthening Baden-Württemberg as a leading bioeconomy region.

The project is supported by the Ministry of Food, Rural Affairs and Consumer Protection Baden-Württemberg.

Promotion of bio-based and circular building materials in Baden-Württemberg

The construction sector in Germany accounts for around 55 percent of all waste, around 40 percent of climate-warming CO2 emissions, and is largely responsible for the enormous resource consumption of approximately 1.3 million tons annually (!).
